Everything you need to know about the CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme 2026, answered in simple language. Can’t find your answer? Contact us.
It is a Punjab government programme launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz that gives students (and some teachers) brand-new electric and petrol bikes on 0% interest monthly installments, with a subsidy of up to Rs 70,000 on each electric bike.
Mainly regular students aged 18 or above who study at an HEC-recognised college or university in Punjab and hold a motorcycle learner’s permit or driving licence. Permanent and contract teachers under the School Education Department can also apply through a separate portal.
For electric bikes the down payment starts around Rs 14,000 with monthly installments of roughly Rs 3,000. Petrol bikes are usually Rs 3,000–4,000 per month. The plan runs for about 2 years and the government pays the markup, so there is no interest.
No. The Punjab government pays the full bank markup. You only pay back the actual price of the bike in easy monthly installments — there is no interest, no processing fee and no hidden charge.
Yes. The scheme is designed to encourage female applicants. In the current phase the down payment and registration fee for female students are expected to be covered by the Chief Minister. Confirm the latest terms on the official portal.
Only bikes.punjab.gov.pk (for students) and ptf.punjab.gov.pk (for teachers) are official. Any other website, form or agent asking for money is not authorised. This guide is an independent information site and is not the government portal.
Phase 1 covered Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur. Phase 2 expands the scheme to all 36 districts of Punjab for both electric and petrol bikes.
A valid CNIC, a motorcycle learner’s permit or driving licence, proof that you are a student (or teacher), a Punjab domicile where required, and a mobile SIM registered on your own CNIC. Upload clear, readable photos to avoid rejection.
Because far more people apply than there are bikes, selection is often done by computerised balloting (a fair, random draw) after verification. If you are selected you will receive an SMS about paying the down payment.
Dates change with every phase and quota. The safest step is to apply as early as possible and check bikes.punjab.gov.pk for the current registration window, because quotas can fill before the deadline.
The scheme is meant for people who do not already own a registered motorcycle. If a bike is already registered in your name your application may be rejected during verification.
Very little. A full home charge costs only a few rupees of electricity and can take you 60–90 km. Compared with petrol, most riders save thousands of rupees every month on fuel.
Ready to get your own e-bike?
